A38 is one of the coolest places to party in Budapest and it has won the title The Best Bar of 2012 by Lonely Planet’s poll. So it was the people’s choice. The ship is moored on the Buda side just next to Petőfi Bridge. It’s a Ukrainian stone-carrier ship which was turned into a major floating bar and live-music venue in 2003. The name comes from Artemovszk 38, which is the name of a ship prototype. The A38 is truly a special place in the Budapest nightlife as here you can always expect quality entertainment and really interesting people. Usually there are a lot of foreigners on the parties probably thanks to the international reputation of the old Ukrainian ship and also to the international music programs. It also provides home for various cultural activities such as professional meetings, film, literature, digital and even gastronomy events. And we should not forget about the location as A38 is overlooking a beautiful view.

The Japanese Korean Grocery Store

This gem is situated close to Kolosy square in the bottom of Szépvölgyi út, basically a few steps from the HÉV stop. Here you can find all the delicacies from Japan and Korea. My favourite is the Kimchi which I could not find anywhere else in Budapest. Here you can buy home made or the prepacked in 0,5 kilo, 1 kilo and the 5 kilo version is 6000 forint. The shopkeeper lady is very kind and speaks very good Hungarian and English. The prices are competitive with other special food shops and many items are actually cheaper. And here comes the catch. If you come weekdays between 12:00 – 14:00 you can get some real Japanese – Korean food on a menza price (means around 800 – 1000 forint). And I’m talking about real Asian food, not the tasteless fake Chinese food you get for the same price in the Whatever Panda takeaways.

You can also choose from a wide range of different exotic teas from Korea, Japan and other places. Buy Mizo soup, different drinks, spices and ingredients.
